Your Private Water Sports Playground in the San Blas Islands

One of the first questions we get from guests is, “What is there to do in San Blas all day?”. In this article, we share all the San Blas activities you can enjoy during a sailing charter experience with Nomad Sailors.

They’re used to the resort model: a roped-off beach, a shared pool, and a “watersports” hut with a line for the one kayak.

At Nomad Sailors, we have a different answer.

Your “activity” isn’t a 1-hour slot. It’s your life for the week. Our “amenities” aren’t just a list of toys in a box. Our amenity is the entire 365-island Guna Yala territory. The Nomade is simply the private, five-star home base that moves with you, giving you exclusive access to a playground no resort can offer.

Our spacious trampoline on the bow is the most sought-after piece of real estate in the Caribbean.

The Nomad Sailors Difference: No Crowds, No Waiting, No Compromise

This is the most critical difference. In a resort, tourists often wait in line for the single paddleboard, share the same crowded pool, and scramble to book a table at the restaurant. (Internal Link to our Private vs. Shared article). On a private catamaran, all the gear is yours.

  • No Waiting: Want to paddleboard at sunrise? It’s waiting for you.
  • No Boundaries: Your “swim area” isn’t marked by buoys. It’s a 3-mile-long reef.
  • No Crowds: You will snorkel on reefs that haven’t seen another human all day.

A Day in the Life: Your “Activity Menu”

Forget “what to do.” Here’s what your day feels like.

The 8 AM: The “Glass-Bottom” Kayak

You wake up, enjoy your coffee, and launch our kayak into the calm water. Paddle a short distance, and you’re already above a vibrant underwater scene—eagle rays and parrotfish swimming below, all before breakfast.

The 11 AM: The “Private Reef” Snorkel

The day-trippers all go to the same crowded snorkel spot (like “Dog Island”). Captain Boris doesn’t. He knows the spots in the remote Holandeses Cays, where the coral is pristine and the crowds are zero. We provide all the professional-grade snorkel gear (masks, fins, vests). You just jump off the back of the Nomade catamaran into your own private-world-class aquarium.

The 2 PM: The Paddleboard Expedition to Your Own Island

After a light, fresh lunch, Captain Boris anchors the Nomade a hundred yards off a tiny, one-palm-tree sandbar. You and your partner take the two stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) and make the “long” journey. For the next two hours, that island is yours. You are the sole inhabitants. This isn’t just “paddleboarding”; it’s claiming your own private piece of paradise.

The 4 PM: The “Sea-to-Table” Fishing Adventure

This is where the Nomade experience is truly unique. As we sail to our sunset anchorage, we’ll troll a fishing line off the back. You might hook a strong Yellowfin Tuna, a Mackerel, or a Wahoo. This isn’t “catch and release.” This is catch and feast.

Then, you hand your catch to your Private Chef, and 30 minutes later, it comes back as the freshest sashimi you’ll ever taste—served with a glass of cold champagne. (Check out our Private Chef article.)

The “All-Day” Activity: Total Decompression

The most popular San Blas activities on Nomad Sailors? Doing nothing at all.

Our spacious trampoline on the bow is the most sought-after piece of real estate in the Caribbean. Lie down with a good book, feel the warm breeze, and listen to the water rush by underneath you. This is the “activity” you can’t get at a resort. It’s the “luxury of silence.”

“We don’t just have paddleboards; we have paddleboards and the 300+ empty islands to explore with them. That’s the difference.” – Captain Boris

What About Scuba Diving in San Blas?

A quick, honest note: To protect the reefs, the Guna Yala Congress prohibits scuba diving in the territory. This is a blessing. It’s why our snorkeling is the best in the world, with vibrant, shallow reefs and abundant sea life (turtles, rays, and sharks) that you can see from the surface.
