Getting There
Located in a more remote area of San Blas, Coco Bandera is protected from the crowds. We anchor right in the center of a triad of tiny islands, offering seclusion and pristine sailing conditions.
Deep water, calm protection, center of the atoll.
What to Expect
A 360-degree movie scene. This is a formation of three very small islands. The water is crystal clear, and the islands are so close you can swim from your boat to any of them in just 50 meters.
It is one of the most photogenic spots in the entire archipelago, offering a level of intimacy with nature that larger islands cannot provide.
🧐 Curious Fact
A resident family of Nurse Sharks (Nodrizas) lives here. They are harmless and have learned to recognize visiting sailboats, often coming to the hull to ask for snacks.
⚓ Captain’s Tip
"Jump! Seriously, wake up and jump right off the boat. Then swim with the nurse sharks. It’s an adrenaline rush but completely safe. They are like water puppies."
What to Bring
This is the most photogenic aerial spot in San Blas.
You’ll be in the water or on sand 100% of the time.
Ask the crew about feeding the local marine life.
Essential for the shark encounter.
Ulu Navigation
While relaxing at Coco Bandera, notice how the waves break on the outer reefs protecting these tiny islands.
The Guna people are master navigators of these waters. For centuries, they have navigated without GPS, reading the color of the coral to avoid crashing their wooden canoes (Ulus). A dark patch means danger; light turquoise means safety.
