Short answer: Calculate a San Blas charter from the selected boat’s nightly rate, your guest count and number of nights, then add separately quoted transfers, Guna community entry charges and any optional extras. Nomad Sailors is a Panama-based sailing charter company operating in San Blas (Guna Yala), with private boats and shared departures. A private-boat rate is not a per-person rate or the price of the whole holiday.
Published private-charter prices: worked examples
These examples use the rates published on the linked boat pages, checked on 16 October 2026. All figures are in USD. They illustrate the charter component only; dates, availability, occupancy and the final written quote must be confirmed before booking.
Boat and guests | Whole boat per night | Nights | Charter subtotal |
|---|---|---|---|
USD 1,450 | 5 | USD 7,250 | |
USD 1,700 | 4 | USD 6,800 | |
USD 3,100 | 4 | USD 12,400 |
For example, the Leopard 40 calculation is USD 1,450 × 5 nights = USD 7,250 for the private boat with two guests. This is not a USD 1,450 five-night trip. Divide by two only if you want an indicative per-person share of that charter subtotal.
Build the complete trip budget
Total trip budget = charter subtotal + return transfers + Guna community entry charges + separately priced extras. Ask for each component in the written proposal so that you can compare the final amount across boats and departure types.
Transfers: road and water-taxi connections, or any available flight option, are coordinated and charged separately. Confirm whether the quote covers both directions and every connection.
Guna community entry charges: these are separate from the charter. Confirm current amounts, who they apply to and how they are paid for your itinerary.
Optional costs: flights, travel insurance, gratuities, premium bottles and separately priced Nomad Editions should be budgeted according to your choices.
What the charter includes
The selected proposal confirms accommodation, captain and chef, meals, drinks, fuel, water, tender and onboard equipment. Air conditioning, Starlink, cabin layout and water toys vary by boat. An “all-inclusive” onboard offer does not mean that transfers, entry charges or every optional service are included.
Private boat, shared cabin or island accommodation?
A private charter reserves the boat for your group and crew. A shared departure reserves the agreed cabin or occupancy while you share common areas with other travellers. Shared rates and departure dates need their own quote; do not divide a private-boat rate and treat it as a published shared fare.
Island accommodation can suit travellers who prefer a land-based stay. Compare its actual room, meals, excursions and transfer offer with the complete charter quote. There is no single cabaña price or inclusion list that represents every operator.
Frequently asked questions
Is the published rate per person or per boat?
The private-charter tables on the linked Nomad boat pages are per night for the whole boat at the stated guest count. Shared departures use the occupancy and price confirmed in their own proposal.
Can I book only one or two nights?
Nomad offers trips from one night, subject to availability and the selected boat. Longer expeditions can be planned around your dates. Five nights is a recommendation for a relaxed first trip, not a general minimum.
Does a published price guarantee availability?
No. Sending an enquiry requests a check of boats and dates. Read the current payment, cancellation and confirmation conditions before booking.
